FOOD FAVES

I just returned from Las Vegas and dined at a couple of yummy new places. In light of the recent tragedy there, we kept things a little low key.

Searsucker in Caesar's Palace was a real winner. Fun signature cocktails... I had a Fizzy Lifter with prosecco and vodka and my friend had a Blackberry Smash with bourbon. Wow! The bourbon revival is all the rage these days.

We shared a Tomato & Buratta starter which was fabulous. I'd never had buratta but it was a very yummy cheese that tasted like mozzarella, but had a less spongy texture. It was drizzled with balsamic vinegar... an ingredient I could eat on anything. Anyway, we smeared the whole mess, including tomatoes and basil, on French toast and gobbled it up.

And because you can never have too much cheese... we also shared the Cream of Tomato Soup with Grilled Sourdough and White Cheddar sandwich. Delicious comfort food and the presentation was gorgeous. It was served on a rustic, footed plank with the sandwich propped up like a teepee on one corner. And a carafe full of soup was poured into a primitive bowl by our server.
